Other Vegan Supermarket Products
Here are a few more vegan supermarket products to go with your vegan food list. Companies sometimes change their ingredients so always check the labels.
So what other vegan supermarket products can you find at your local store? I have added a basic vegan food list on this page and hope you find it helpful. I will be adding more items to this page as I become aware of them.
Baking Aisle
The baking ingredients section of your supermarket will be fairly vegan friendly. Here are some of the vegan supermarket products to be found here:
- Baking Powder
- Baking Soda
- Cake Mixes (double check the ingredients)
- Colourings (most are vegan - look out for cochineal E120)
- Cooking Chocolate (70% cocoa usually)
- Cornflour
- Desiccated Coconut
- Dried Fruits
|
- Flavourings (most are vegan)
- Flour
- Lemon Juice
- Marzipan
- Nuts
- Pie Fillings (usually vegan)
- Seeds
- Vanilla Pods
- Yeast
|
Condiments Aisle
There are usually plenty more vegan supermaket products on the condiments aisle at your local supermarket. How about some vegan stuffing? Oh I say!!
Paxo Stuffing
- Sage and Onion
- Sage and onion with Garlic
- Sage and Onion with Apple
|
- Chestnut and Cranberry
- Wild Sage and Red onion
|
You may also find the cooking oils on this aisle. Most of these are vegan. Nut and olive oils as well as vegetable oils are all vegan of course. All the spices should also be on this aisle and most of these too are vegan friendly.
Freezer Aisle
You can also find numerous vegan supermarket products in the freezer sections at your local supermarket. Most potato products here are vegan but double check the labels to make sure they are not glazed with honey or cooked in animal fat. These are some of them:
- Chips
- Fruit
- Onion Rings
- Pastry
- Pizza Bases
|
- Potato Wedges
- Roast Potatoes
- Vegetables
- Waffles
|
Jams and Marmalade Aisle
Many
jams and marmalades
are also vegan. In fact it is more unusual to have a jam or marmalade which isn't vegan than the other way around. If you are looking for a vegan chocolate spread, there may be one or two on this aisle but you may also need to get them from the "Free From" section.
Pasta Aisle
The pasta section of your local supermarket should also be fairly vegan friendly. As long as the pasta doesn't contain any egg then you should be fine as most pasta is made from 100% durham wheat. You can choose pasta twists, pasta shells and pasta lasagne sheets for that vegan recipe you have in mind. Want to cheat and use some ready made
vegan cooking sauce?
This shouldn't be a problem as many brands are vegan friendly, with some companies even labelling their products as such.
Note to food manufacturers: Labelling your products as being suitable for vegans is very helpful thankyou!! :)
World Foods Aisle
This is where you will find the Indian, Mexican, Chinese and other world food products.
- Chippatis
- Coconut Milks and Creams
- Crackers
|
- Nann Breads (watch out for the lactic acid)
- Noodles (without egg)
- Poppadums
|
Look out for the "Old El Paso" product range too as many of their products are vegan friendly. Here are some of them:
- Burrito Dinner Kit
- Garlic Salsa Mild
- Guacamole
- Hot Thick 'n' Chunky Salsa
- Hot Chilli Con Carne Cooking Sauce
