the nutritional value of carrots and full carrot nutrition information...

carrots

Carrots are the richest vegetable source of vitamin A and carotenes.

  • Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A which plays a part in eye health and helps to fight off viral infections.

  • Carrot nutrition is exceptionally high in carotene. Carotenes protects the cells from free radical damage and provides a source of vitamin A. Carotene also plays a part in the health of the immune and reproductive systems.

  • Carrots are also a good source of niacin (vitamin B3) which can help to lower cholesterol levels and also helps to stabilise the blood sugar. B3 also helps the body to process fats.

  • Carrots also provide a good source of potassium which plays a part in nerve and muscle function and maintains the bodies' acid balance. Potassium also helps lower the risk of high blood pressure.

  • One cup of carrots contains around 52 calories.
